I am Happy

I am so happy today. I didn’t think Obama’s projected win would make me this happy. I haven’t said these words with such peace as I said them today in a long long time.

I am hopeful of a world where things can drastically change to the better.

Not that I think Obama will help end Israeli occupation or anything of that sort that is a different story al together. The event it self is just inspiring.

Couldn’t help but wonder as I watched crowds cheering on the news in the US and elsewhere, what would any unelected ruler of a nation must have felt yesterday and today?

What Obama experienced yesterday is something so profound that anyone would envy. Again, this might be naive of me on some part. But this election day moved me beyond my expectations.

I am happy and very moved too. I got goose bumps following the news thru the night and what people were saying as they came out of the voting booth. Someone tweeted that he’s a 48 yr white republican male and voted for Obama coz he inspired him – that blew me away. Such action is about faith and sincerity and the desire for change and the ability to act on it. It’s the real thing.

Seeing those winning faces with twinkling eyes, souls leaning forward, confidence standing straight, listening with so much positive attitude and hope to this convincing leader made me so happy for Americans. Happiness for the other is quite a beautiful and powerful feeling I discovered today.

That has been one great experience to go through. His speech, the faces, the turnout. One hell of an experience. I join you Nadine in being so happy for Americans. I really feel different about Americans today, i feel closer… like I used to feel more than a decade and a half ago.
